Hawkins began a three-year term on July 1. Hawkins is assistant vice president of university advancement for Salisbury University. Hawkins is a graduate of the University of Maryland College Park. Prior to his appointment, he was the 1999 recipient of the Lung Association's prestigious Distinguished Service Award in Communications. The Rev.

Sharon D. Sampson received an associate of art degree in ministry recently from the Christian World Georgetown were recently announced. Students named to the president's list, for a term grade point average of 3.8 or above, include: Patricia C. Farrell of Laurel, Mark B. Murphy of Lewes, Glenda C.

Pruett of Millsboro and Sara E. Absher of Seaford. In addition, students named to the dean's list for a term grade point average of 3.25 to 3.79 include: Dawn M. Moustafa of Delmar, Cassie J. Rickards of Frankford; Tracy W.

Espenlaub of Laurel and Franklin W. Smiley of Mardela Springs. v. -V College of Theology in Salisbury, under the direction of the Rev. Dr.

Ray Chamberlin, chancellor. Sampson lives in Tyaskin r3 Bivens-White WILLARDS Angela Bivens of Princess Anne and Leroy White Jr. of Willards were married Nov. 17, 2001, at St. Paul's AME Zion Church in Salisbury.

The bride is the daughter of Emerson and Gloria Cottman in Princess Anne and Wilbert Jones of Salisbury. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy White Sr. of Salisbury.

The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Ernest Price. Music was performed by Kelly Plummer and Milton Maddox. The bride wore a cream handmade dress styled with a V-neck top and a full-length lace jacket. The bride also wore a pearl crown, earrings and a pearl choker.

Takesha and Nicole Cottman of Princess Anne, sisters of the bride, were the matrons of honor. Diann Ward of Salisbury and Rhonda Turner of Princess Anne, the bride's cousin, were maids of honor. The bridesmaids were Annette, Yvette and Pamela White, all of Salisbury and sisters of the bridegroom; and Deborah Brockinbroth of Salisbury. Flower girls were Jayshell Hernandez of Princess Anne, niece of the bride; and Brianna Mendez of Salisbury, goddaughter of the bride. Junior bridesmaids were Torri Wallace of Salisbury, niece of the bridegroom; and Tyjay Bailey of Salisbury, niece of the bridegroom.

The bride was announced by Samantha Doane of Princess Anne, cousin of the bride; and Trina Hayward of Princess Anne, cousin of the bride. The bride was escorted by Dwayne Hayman Jr. of Princess Anne, godson of the bride. Sharon D. Sampson Mr.

and Mrs. Leroy White Jr. Dr. and Mrs. Ray Chamberlain Wed 50 years Friends and members of Del-marva Evangelistic Church recently gave Dr.

and Mrs. Ray Chamberlain a 50th wedding anniversary reception on June 7, 2002. They were married in First Full Gospel Church in Baltimore by John W. Pitcher. Prior to the reception they renewed their vows with the Rev.

Bert Hare officiating. Doris Hare was Mrs. Chamberlain's maid of honor and John Chamberlain, brother of Dr. Chamberlain, was his best man. with her husband, Vaughn, her two children, Vanita and VaShawn.

She also has two grandsons. Sampson is a member of the ministerial staff at Faith Christian Full Gospel Baptist Church in Salisbury, and teaches adult Sunday school. Everett T. Conaway was recently honored for his service as a member of the Salisbury University Foundation board of groom; and Bryant and Keshawn White of Salisbury, nephews of the bridegroom. The ring bearer was Orly Ward Jr.

of Salisbury, godson. A reception was held at the Princess Anne Civic Center with music by Disco Funk and Ellis Crump. The bride graduated from Washington High School in Princess Anne and is employed as a reservationist at the Clarion Fontainebleau Hotel in Ocean City. The bridegroom graduated from Wicomico High School in Salisbury and is employed as a truck driver for the City of Salisbury. Since their return from a honeymoon in the Poconos, they are living in Willards.

Best men were Archie White of Salisbury, brother of the bridegroom; and Sgt, Hilton White of Germany, brother of the bridegroom. Groomsmen were Greg Camper of Salisbury, cousin of the bridegroom; Sam Williams of Severn, cousin, of the bridegroom; Charles Bryant of Salisbury; Kevin Blue of Salisbury; Marshall Corbin of Princess Anne; and Antonio Williams of Severn, cousin of the bridegroom. Junior groomsmen were Curtis Mills of Quantico, godson of the bridegroom; and Karon White of Salisbury, nephew of the bridegroom. Ushers were Rob Chism of Salisbury; Anthony Bailey of Salisbury, nephew of the bride directors since 1988. Conaway was an advocate of many university programs during his tenure with the Foundation.

1 fM Everett T. Conaway Stephanie Eagle Stephanie Eagle of Salisbury recently spent five weeks in New York City at the School of American Ballet. During her stay in New York City, in addition to a full program of classes, she performed with The Kirov Ballet from Russia at the Metropolitan Opera House in Lincoln Center in the children's lotus dance of "La Bayadere," and she also danced the part of Manue. Peter Boal, a principal dancer for the New York City Ballet, also selected her for a special demonstration project. She has performed with The Eastern Shore Ballet Theater and in the summer of 2001 spent three weeks at The Kirov Academy in Washington.

Eagle has been a student at the Salisbury Studio of Dance since age 3. She is being trained by Elena Manakhova, artistic director of The Eastern Shore Ballet Theater and a graduate of the Vaganova Academy in Russia. Eagle is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Eagle of Salisbury, and is a seventh-grade student at Salisbury School.

Jermaine M. Spivey, son of Salisbury native Diane Thompson Parson, recently left for Europe to perform with employed at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore. Her fiance is a 1992 graduate of Catonsville Senior High School, and graduated from Salisbury University in 1998 with a bachelor of science degree in philosophy. He is employed by South African Brewing South African Division.

The wedding is planned for Sept. 20, 2002, at 6:30 p.m., at Magothy United Methodist Church Chapel in the Wood, Pasadena, Md. Formal wedding invitations have been issued. i 'A Brown-Legambi DELMAR Perry W. and Lou Ann Brown of Delmar have announced the engagement of their daughter, Tabitha Faith Brown of Baltimore, to J.J.

Legambi of Baltimore, son of John and Brenda Legambi, also of Baltimore. The bride-to-be graduated in 1997 from Delmar Junior-Senior High School; in 2000 from Catonsville Community College with an associate's degree in nursing; and will graduate in December 2002 In particular, he was supportive of the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business. He was presented with a framed watercolor of Holloway Hall by SU President Janet Dudley-Eshbach and outgoing SU Foundation Chairman Deborah Abbott. Graduates Mark Hancock of Salisbury recently graduated with a master of business administration degree with high distinction from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Milestones Lucille Sturgis recently celebrated her 90th birthday with family members in Connecticut. Sturgis and her late husband, Talbot, moved to Salisbury in 1942. They owned and operated Lucille's Flower Shop. Her sons are Talbot Sturgis Jr. and Robert Sturgis.

She also has 10 grandchildren, 26 greatgrandchildren and 14 Tabitha Faith Brown J.J. Legambi from UMB Nursing School with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She is Pete and Louise Baicar 50th anniversary Pete and Louise Baicar of Salisbury celebrated their 50th anniversary in Annapolis at a party given by their children. They renewed their vows, with Mrs. Baicar wearing her original veil and with the ceremony including the original matron of honor, Joan 'Thorne, She was given away by her grandson, Bobby Hill of Hebron.

Granddaughter Ashley Hill was junior bridesmaid and granddaughter Anna Baicar was the flower girl. Son Robert Baicar of Arnold was best man and daughter Brenda Hill and daughter-in-law Kim Baicar were bridesmaids. Baicar gave his bride an anniversary ring. Kevin Spence of Annapolis officiated. Honors awards Dancers from D'Ann Danse Studios in Salisbury won gold medals at the New York City Dance Alliance National Dance Competition held recently in New York City.

Studio director Debbie Wehlan was honored for her choreography entries in the junior division of both the musical theater and jazz dance categories. Kody Baer, Alexa Wehlan, Cody Wehlan and Erica Willis won the musical theater competition in the junior division, receiving gold medals for their group jazz entry "Stuff Like That There." The group was also invited to Las Vegas to perform their routines at the summer national dance convention. The dance also recently performed their award winning dances on Royal Caribbean's Monarch of the Seas Cruise ship and are Maryland state dance delegates. The president's list and the dean's list for the summer semester at the Jack F. Owens Campus of Delaware Technical Community College in I -f Serena shines NEW YORK (AP) Serena Williams, the top seed at the U.S.

Open, already shines on the tennis court, but thanks to a gift from Harry Winston, she'll be able to shine wherever she goes. The jewelry company created a special tennis bracelet for Serena to wear on and off the court during the tournament at the U.S. Tennis Center. The bride-to-be is a 1997 graduate of Stephen Decatur High School and a 2002 graduate of Wor-Wic Community College's nursing program. She is employed as a nurse at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Her fiance is a 1996 graduate of Stephen Decatur High School in Berlin and is employed by the Ocean Pines Association. his bachelor of fine arts degree in May 2002 after graduating with honors from Baltimore School of Arts. He is also the grandson of Elsie Thompson of Salisbury. The family hosted a celebratory luncheon for Spivey at the Lighthouse Restaurant in Salisbury. Geri E. Matyiko of Ocean City was named to the dean's list for academic achievement during the spring semester at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, N.H., where she is majoring in child development.

The American Lung Peninsula Regional Medical Center, through the Peninsula Regional Foundation, was recently presented a check for $111,964.26 from the estate of Randall F. Kelley of Vienna. Kelley, who died in June 2000, designated in his will that the remainder of his estate be divided equally between the medical center and Easton Memorial Hospital. He requested that the Peninsula Regional portion of the funds be directed to cancer care services. Kelley, who spent more than 40 years working for Conectiv Power at the Vienna Power Plant, was a patient at Peninsula Regional in 1995.

He expressed to friends his desire to do something special in return for the compassionate care he received during his stay and rehabilitation following his illness. Peninsula Regional presidentCEO Alan Newberry accepted the donation. Describing New York mayor Bloomberg, Doonan says, "His clothes are simple, businesslike, and they fit.
